28TH STREET

This project was conceived as a modern showcase for a collector client on a unique Bayfront property in New Jersey.  The house was designed to conform to post-Sandy engineering criteria, with an elevated main floor positioned over a ground level garage, storage, beach shower with changing room, and an inviting white grotto. The home was designed for offsite construction using LABhaus’s high-end modern prefab technology.

The home’s unique prow-shaped floor maximized glazing and to the west and south, with protected views to the Atlantic City Skyline.  In order to accommodate extra guests when the home’s five bedrooms were occupied, the rear east side of the house offers two generous sleeping porches.  A nod to the region’s traditional architecture, the sleeping porches were designed to be outfitted with bug screening, heavy curtains for privacy, and modular daybeds for lounging or sleeping.
